The game between the Royals and Red Sox in Boston had fans talking all night. The Boston Red Sox won their seventh game in a row, beating the Kansas City Royals 6-2 at Fenway Park on Tuesday. Garrett Crochet pitched really well for seven innings, Trevor Story hit a soft ball that gave Boston the lead, and Wilyer Abreu added two more runs in the seventh inning to help seal the win.
Crochet looked strong from the start. He had nine days of rest before the game and came back fresh. He got the first ten Royals players out and gave up only two runs on four hits. He also struck out eight batters. His great pitching made a big difference.
The game was close until the sixth inning. That’s when Trevor Story hit a blooper into center field. It dropped just right and gave the Red Sox the lead. In the next inning, Abreu hit a single that brought in two more runs. He also made a nice catch in the outfield.
Kansas City had some good moments too. A young pitcher, Ryan Bergert, made his first big-league start and did well for most of the game. But in the later innings, the Royals’ relief pitchers couldn’t hold the line. Also, a mistake by Nick Loftin on the bases earlier in the series had already hurt their chances.
The fans stayed excited the whole time. Each inning felt tense, and no one wanted to leave their seats. The Red Sox now have 64 wins and 51 losses. The Royals fell to 56 wins and 58 losses and are now behind in the race for a wild card spot.
Looking ahead, Boston hopes to win all three games in this series. Dustin May, who just joined the team, is expected to pitch next. Kansas City will send out Michael Wacha. Both teams know this next game is important.
This game had everything—good pitching, exciting hits, and late-game drama. The Red Sox came through when it counted. The Royals showed some fight, but Boston’s strong finish gave them the win.
