Chase Filandro, a bright and creative 20-year-old influencer and rising actor from New York City, died suddenly on July 31, 2025. His death left his friends, family, and followers heartbroken and in shock.
Chase had over 30,000 followers on Instagram, where he shared his love for travel, books, and National Parks. People loved him for being real, kind, and always smiling. His sister, Franki Ford, called him “a shining light” with a big love for life. She said he always showed kindness to strangers during his travels.

Outside of Instagram, Chase studied acting at Take 2 Actors Studio in Huntington, Long Island. He also sang in a local indie rock band called Just Add Water and performed in Long Island shows as recently as summer 2024. Friends and coworkers said he always brought happiness and energy wherever he went.
Though the cause of death was not shared at first, TMZ later reported that his family said Chase died by suicide in his NYU dorm room. His loved ones asked for privacy as they mourn and remember him.
To honor his love for nature, his family started a GoFundMe to build a memorial in one of Chase’s favorite U.S. National Parks. In just two days, they raised over $24,000. Once the park is chosen, friends and fans will be welcome to visit and remember him in a peaceful, natural place.
