Something surprising happened in Cleveland today. The Cleveland Browns signed quarterback Tyler Huntley, also known as “Snoop.” He is now the sixth quarterback on the team. The team made this move because many other quarterbacks got hurt during training camp.
Coach Kevin Stefanski said they didn’t have enough healthy quarterbacks. Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel hurt their hamstrings. Rookie Shedeur Sanders has a sore shoulder. Deshaun Watson is also not playing right now. So, Huntley’s return gives the team more help and experience.
Some fans are asking why the team brought in another quarterback now. Huntley already knows the Browns. He played here from 2020 to 2023, then went to the Ravens, and later started games for the Dolphins last year when Tua Tagovailoa was injured. In five games, Huntley threw for 829 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Now the Browns have six quarterbacks: Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson, and now Tyler Huntley. That’s a lot of players for one spot.
The Browns will go to Charlotte, North Carolina, to practice with the Carolina Panthers and play a preseason game. Huntley might get to practice and maybe play. The team will have to choose who stays and who leaves soon.
Fans in Cleveland are now watching closely. Will Huntley get a big chance? Or will he stay as a backup? Time will tell.
The Browns want to be ready. They don’t want to take chances with injuries. Bringing Huntley back may be the smart move they need.
