Strong 6.1 quake hits western Turkey, causing building collapses.
The ground shook without warning and turned a peaceful evening into very fear. People ran outside as walls broke and buildings fell.
A peaceful evening changed in just a second when a strong earthquake hit homes in western Turkey. On 10 August at 7:53 p.m. local time, a 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit Balıkesir’s Sındırgı district.
The news spread very fast. An 81-year-old woman was pulled from broken stones and wood, but she couldn’t survived. All over the area, 16 building fell down, including two mosque tower. In some towns and villages, empty homes were also destroyed.
People in cities like Istanbul and Izmir felt the shaking, even though they were back away. The quake’s force reached many places, shaking homes and scaring people.
The rescue team worked through the night. They listened for voice under the rubble while aftershocks, the biggest at 4.6, kept coming. The official told people to stay away from damaged building.
All agencies are working and ready to help. He prayed for the safety of the country.
